Policy 531-9 from U.S. Soccer is going into effect March 1st 2025
Referee abuse (physically or non-physically) has to stop – “Respect the Call” is the name of the new initiative.
To keep this simple AND all have a chance to get familiarized with the new rules find 2 attachments / links in this e-mail.
Please set 15 minutes aside to absorb a short video and an explanatory PowerPoint presentation.

1) If our human dignity gets challenged while refereeing, we have a duty to report on our State website www.wareferees.org
You don’t even have to log in, just simply scroll to the bottom part of that first page, right above the concussion protocol to find the report material.
2) If any of you need assistance (assignors are there for you), there is additional help by reaching out via e-mail to reports@wareferees.org
3) Remember: if there is physical abuse in one of your games, abandon the game!
4) If the offical (referee, AR) is a Youth (U18) Everyone at the venue who observes / is aware is a Manditory Reporter!
We need to report players, coaches, parents/spectators, etc. who are not in line with U.S. Soccer's expectations on all Youth and Amateur Adult games.
All this will help to swing back the pendulum where mutual respect is shown for all who are part of this beautiful game. “Respect the Call!”
